Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Quinton Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Cross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jason Cross struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 187.0lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Jason Cross will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jason Cross! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cross misses with a takedown and Jackson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Cross's guard. Cross should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Cross keeping full guard, as Jackson tries to pass. Jackson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cross has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jackson has managed to get both his arms back between Cross's legs - danger averted. Jackson content to stall in guard here. Jackson looking to pass the guard. Jackson throws a big elbow that misses. Cross trying to control the position.
Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cross swivels though and keeps the full guard. Jackson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Jackson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Cross quickly recovers to half guard. Jackson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cross's head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Cross is trying to get back to full guard. Cross looks winded! Cross is trying to stand up here but Jackson is controlling him well. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Jackson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cross on the ground.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jackson connects with a nice short shot to Cross's temple. Jackson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Ground and pound from Jackson. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jackson is figuring out what he wants to do next. Jackson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jackson scoring with strikes to the body and head. Cross is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Jackson scores with a couple of nice shots. Jackson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Cross is rocked! Jackson with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Cross throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Jackson!
