Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Rick Purcell!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Deschain shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Purcell but Purcell pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Purcell's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Deschain gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Deschain apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Deschain postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Purcell keeping moving, preventing Deschain from controlling successfully.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Deschain prevents Purcell from getting back to his feet.
Purcell is looking to stand back up but Deschain counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Purcell.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Deschain cracks Purcell with a big right hand but Purcell just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Purcell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Deschain. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Deschain is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Purcell is looking to stand up but Deschain isn't so interested in that idea.

Deschain is nestled in close to Purcell, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Deschain seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Deschain moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from Purcell.

Deschain has good solid back control here.

Purcell rolls, trying to escape but Deschain keeps control of the position.
Deschain lands strikes to the head.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Deschain has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Purcell's body.

and Deschain counters with a nice double leg into side control. Purcell won't be happy with that.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Purcell can do anything to dispel that myth.

Roland Deschain overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Purcell is in a horrible position here. Deschain smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Deschain has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Deschain fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Deschain had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Purcell is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Deschain Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Purcell's back instead.

Deschain postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Purcell to stand up.
Purcell stuffs the takedown attempt from Deschain. Deschain gets slowly back to his feet.
Purcell cracks a nice hook into Deschain's ribs.
Purcell tries for a takedown but Deschain sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Deschain closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Deschain is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Deschain, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
