Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leonard Pires (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Braulio Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Braulio Silva has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Leonard Pires!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Braulio Silva!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Sergei Dronov and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Silva drives through with a takedown into Pires's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Pires thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Silva pushes down on Pires's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Silva lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Pires makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Pires.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silva postures up in Pires's guard and throws a big left but Pires blocks it.

Silva is working Pires over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Pires avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Silva drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Pires dives on top into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pires won't allow Silva to sweep him here.
Silva is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Silva is on top in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Pires tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Silva works to advance to full mount. Pires defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Silva goes for an armbar but Pires turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Pires.
Silva bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pires's guard.

Silva postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Pires throws his legs up looking for a submission but Silva uses it to pass to side control.
Silva tries to score with some ground and pound. Pires controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Silva wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Pires, who protects the arm well.

Silva can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Pires is looking to escape.
Pires avoids a series of strikes thrown by Silva.
Pires sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Silva looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Pires is looking to improve his position.

Silva wants to work for an arm triangle but Pires is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Silva works his foot free and advances to mount.
Pires swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Silva can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Pires is looking to escape.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Silva misses with a head shot.
Pires avoids a series of strikes thrown by Silva.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Silva with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Braulio Silva dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Pires takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Silva lands a glancing blow to the side of Pires's head.

Pires scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Silva is trying to get back to full guard.
Silva makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Silva.
Pires wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pires is looking to pass into half guard but Silva pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Silva is in guard.

Silva tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Silva has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Silva misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Silva is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pires is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Pires has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Silva to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Pires is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Silva pulls down on the head and he's put Pires to sleep! This one is all over!
