The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferreira gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Rico counters with a nice uppercut.

Rico wants to advance to full mount but Ferreira doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Rico stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ferreira swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's time! Ferreira's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Ferreira uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rico.

The fight stays on the outside here - Ferreira looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Rico bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Ferreira's head.

Rico feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well Rico has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
