PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Lipsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Uhuru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lipsky comes to the cage accompanied by "Unsung" by Helmet. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Matt Lipsky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, James Uhuru!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Viktor Lagutenko and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lipsky slips a jab and a cross from Uhuru.
Lipsky misses with a double jab.

Uhuru closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Lipsky is trying to stand up here but Uhuru is controlling him well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Uhuru throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Uhuru not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Uhuru landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Uhuru missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Uhuru stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Lipsky to get to his feet.
Lipsky tries to close the distance and clinch but Uhuru swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Lipsky shoots in but no luck this time.
Lipsky lands a nice looking kick to the body. Uhuru takes a step back to recover.
Uhuru blocks a head kick by Lipsky.
Lipsky wants to clinch up but Uhuru keeps it at a distance.
Lipsky tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Lipsky doesn't manage to clinch there - Uhuru circles away.
Lipsky throws a sloppy head kick and Uhuru moves out of range easily.
Uhuru throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Lipsky counters with a nice body kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Uhuru circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lipsky scores with the left hand. Uhuru knows he should have avoided that one.
Uhuru tries to bum rush Lipsky with a series of wild strikes but Lipsky uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Uhuru clinches.
Lipsky prevents Uhuru from breaking the clinch.
Uhuru wants to break free but Lipsky has control.

Uhuru gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Lipsky regains guard.

Lipsky working for a triangle but Uhuru defends it easily.
Lipsky is breathing heavily.

Uhuru decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Lipsky, up you get!
A combination from Uhuru does no damage.
Lipsky tries to clinch
and Uhuru counters with a two punch combo.
Lipsky fails with the takedown.
Uhuru lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!


Lipsky is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lipsky throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Lipsky closes the distance looking to clinch

and Uhuru decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lipsky's guard.
Oh Lipsky is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lipsky wants to get back to his feet but Uhuru is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Lipsky seems to have got his legs back now.
Lipsky is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Lipsky wants to get back to his feet but Uhuru is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Uhuru would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Lipsky wants to sweep but no luck.

Uhuru avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Uhuru with a flurry of punches that miss.
Uhuru should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Uhuru decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Lipsky tries to close the distance and clinch up but Uhuru swats him away and circles back towards the center.
James Uhuru seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lipsky circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lipsky gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Uhuru connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Lipsky. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Uhuru throws a left and a right that both miss
and Lipsky counters with a big head kick but Uhuru shrugs it off.
Lipsky lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Lipsky is looking to slow Uhuru down with leg kicks.
Lipsky wants to clinch but Uhuru slips to the side

so Uhuru counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Uhuru with a flurry of punches that miss.

Lipsky is working an open guard so Uhuru takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Lipsky drops Uhuru with a left right combo! Lipsky follows him down to the ground into side control.


Uhuru is rocked!


It looks like James Uhuru has been cut.
Uhuru tries to improve position but can't.
Uhuru is still in real trouble! Can Lipsky finish him?

Lipsky decides to stand back up. Lipsky steps back and let's Uhuru get back to his feet.
Lipsky connects with a body shot.
Uhuru circles away from the clinch attempt.
Both fighters circling a little - Lipsky finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Lipsky shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Uhuru kicks off Lipsky and gets to his feet.
Uhuru clinches but Lipsky breaks the clinch
and Lipsky counters with a big right hand! Oh Uhuru is in trouble here! Lipsky follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matt Lipsky!
