Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bob Banks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Martez Cortega!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Atkins and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banks lands with a hook. Cortega tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Banks fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Cortega looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Banks throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Cortega misses with a takedown attempt - Banks sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Banks.
Cortega jabs at Banks's body.
Cortega gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Banks escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A left lands for Cortega.
Banks will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Banks throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Cortega fails with an attempt to clinch.
Cortega on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Banks avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Banks lands a head shot.
Banks ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cortega moves away.
Cortega gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
enabling Banks to counter with a crisp jab.
Oooooh!!! Banks has knocked Cortega down with a huge combo! Banks steps away and waves a wobbly Cortega back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cortega has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Banks finds it's way round the side to connect with Cortega's head.
Cortega is rocked!
Banks is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Cortega hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Bob Banks!
