And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ash Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Burns.
Burns moves out of range of the body kick from Thomas.
Thomas displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Burns throws out the jab.
Burns shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Thomas but Thomas pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Burns misses with a body shot.
Thomas throws a push kick but Burns slaps the foot to one side.
A cross from Thomas lands.
Thomas wants to slow Burns down by chopping away at his legs.
Burns walks into a straight right hand from Thomas.
Thomas fakes the leg kick and cracks Burns in the body.

Thomas throws the kick towards the body but Burns avoids it.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Thomas.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Thomas prevents Burns from breaking the clinch.

Thomas pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Thomas tries to score with a low kick but Burns moves his leg out of the way.

and Thomas cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Thomas ducks under a wild hook from Burns.
Burns needs to keep his hands up - Thomas had a free shot at his head there.

Burns pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Burns steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Thomas.
Burns displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Thomas throws out the jab.
Burns swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Thomas bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Burns throws a jab when Thomas was well out of range.
Thomas misses with a looping left.
Burns slips a jab from Thomas.
Thomas throws a low kick, looking for Burns's leg but Burns calmly moves out of range.
Thomas tries to work over Burns's front leg with a kick but Burns checks it.

Thomas lands a nice looking kick to the body. Burns takes a step back to recover.
Burns bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Thomas's head backwards.

Nice defenses there by Burns.
Thomas looks to throw the jab but Burns is out of range.
Thomas fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Burns checks it well.

Thomas gets a clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Burns blocks an uppercut.
Thomas misses with a short punch on the inside.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Burns decides to pull guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ash Thomas dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Thomas throws a chopping leg kick but Burns manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Burns shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Burns was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Thomas wants to hold on but Burns pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Thomas can do anything to dispel that myth.
Burns sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Burns scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Thomas?
Burns lands with some strikes.
Thomas wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Burns.

Burns pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Burns throws some wild stikes that Thomas manages to avoid easily.
Thomas is wriggling around trying to escape.
Burns lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Thomas is squirming around, avoiding Burns's attempts to control the action.

Burns has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Burns wants to control the pace but Thomas is squirming around nicely.
Burns lands a big shot there that rocks Thomas but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Burns unloads with some shots from mount but Thomas bucks and avoids them well.

A big strike lands for Burns! That's really hurt Thomas and he's turned his back - Burns keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Burns jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
