The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hayes connects with a body shot that sends Gomes's belly button to the back.
Gomes shoots and misses
and Hayes connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Gomes fails with a takedown attempt.
Gomes shoots in for a takedown but Hayes shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fabio Gomes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gomes is breathing heavily.
Hayes with a nice cross.

Hayes rushes Gomes and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Hayes scores with a nice hook to the head.
Gomes jumps guard but Hayes stands there with Gomes around his waist. Gomes gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Hayes pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hayes jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Gomes drops his hands for a split second and Hayes immediately capitalizes on the opportunity by smashing a powerful hook into Gomes face, sending his mouthguard sailing through the air, much to the delight of the crowd. Hayes follows up with a right hand that knocks Gomes into next week. He's out cold and this fight is over!
