Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Locke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Locke! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steven Shields! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shields shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Shields was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Locke trying desperately to get to his feet.
Shields with a couple of short strikes. Shields landing shots from mount. This has been an exciting period of action! Shields jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Locke is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Locke and Shields has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Shields really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Locke. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Shields grinds an elbow into Locke's temple. Shields is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Locke is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Shields throwing shots but missing, from side control. Locke is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Locke wants to control but Shields is keeping busy.
Locke wants to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shields thows a huge punch but Locke dodges it nicely.
Shields is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Shields blocks the strikes from Locke.
Locke trying to control but Shields postures up.
Shields wants to take a breather but Locke is having none of it. Locke wants to improve his position but Shields is controlling well.
Shields has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Locke tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Locke bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Shields preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Locke trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Locke stands and throws Shields's legs to the side, diving into side control. Locke is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Shields has escaped the position, nice work there. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Locke in side control, throwing shots but Shields defends. Locke looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Shields tries to buck Locke off but Locke is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shields is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Locke tries to move to mount but Shields blocks the move with his legs. Shields is trying to control Locke's posture but Locke avoids it. Shields is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Locke is staying active. Locke tries for a kimura but Shields is defending well. Shields prevents Locke from moving into mount. Locke trying to control the position but Shields is working away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Locke working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shields wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Shields is trying to get back to half guard. Shields is trying to work for a sweep but Locke has mounted him! Shields looks winded! Locke has control of Shields's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Shields regains control of the situation pretty easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Locke get's back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that John Locke will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Shields will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Shields closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Locke did well to prevent Shields getting side control. John Locke overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Locke is pressing down on Shields's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Locke lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Shields! Locke looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Shields keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Shields is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Locke can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Shields is looking to escape. Locke is working for a guillotine from mount but Shields frees his head quite easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shields working to try and regain half guard.
Poor strikes thrown by Locke there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Shields is trying to escape the mount.
Shields is breathing heavily. Shields throwing hammer fists to the chest of Locke. What's that going to do exactly? Locke is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Shields to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Shields shrugs it off. Shields is looking to get to half guard. Locke throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Locke is looking to work his way around to Shields's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position. Shields tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Locke is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Shields has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Locke tries to control but Shields wriggling away. Locke throwing strikes here but Shields is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Shields is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Locke locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Shields is forced to tap!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). John Locke! Jumping up and down and very excited, John Locke waved his t-shirt featuring BeastMode's logo in front of the cameras.
