Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paul Bourque!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Thiago Cunha and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bourque thows a body shot but no joy.
Johnson goes for a high kick. It partially lands.


It looks like Paul Bourque has been cut.
Johnson throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Bourque throws a right and a left that both miss.
Bourque misses with a hook. Johnson ducked under it nicely.
Bourque ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Johnson moves away.
Bourque moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
A slapping body kick lands there for Johnson.
Johnson closes the distance but Bourque moves to the side
and Bourque cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Johnson throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bourque paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Bourque throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Johnson.
Johnson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Johnson takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Bourque keeps the fight on the outside.
Bourque just misses with a punch to the body.
Johnson closes the distance looking to clinch
and Bourque counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Johnson has taken the fight to the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bourque wants to break the clinch but can't.
Johnson comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Johnson lands a nice elbow.
Bourque avoids a wild elbow strike from Johnson.

Bourque's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The fight stays on the outside here - Johnson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Bourque scores with a hook.
Johnson walks into a stiff left hand from Bourque.
Bourque scores with a sloppy right hand. Johnson should have avoided that one.


Johnson is rocked!

Johnson throws a leg kick but Bourque moved away.
Johnson tries to clinch up.
Johnson misses with a head kick.
Bourque throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Johnson clinches with his opponent.
Johnson misses with an elbow strike.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Johnson.
Bourque avoids a wild elbow strike from Johnson.
Johnson creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Bourque blocks the elbow strike.
Bourque blocks the elbow strike.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Johnson misses with an elbow strike.
Bourque tries to circle away but Johnson has him pinned against the cage.
Bourque is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Johnson throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Bourque can't break the clinch.
Johnson tries a body shot but Bourque blocks it.
Johnson misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Bourque.
Johnson's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Bourque is trying to break the clinch but Johnson has him pressed against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Johnson throws an elbow but it's blocked.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that John Johnson will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Paul Bourque's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Johnson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

and Bourque cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
It's a brutal combination of punches from Bourque! Johnson is backing up but he can't get away as Bourque lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Johnson and ends the fight. Great knockout.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Paul Bourque!
During a confident post fight interview, Paul Bourque thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
