PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between That Punk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, That Punk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brock Lesnar!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Punk shoots in but Lesnar avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Lesnar throws a right and a left that Punk avoids nicely.

Lesnar pushes Punk up against the cage in a clinch.
Punk tries for a takedown but Lesnar manages to get underhooks.

Lesnar pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Punk scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Punk stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Lesnar gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Punk to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Lesnar being controlled here, momentarily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Punk trying to control but Lesnar is working from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Lesnar has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Punk can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Lesnar looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Punk puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Lesnar is trying to escape back to his feet but Punk uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Lesnar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Punk. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Lesnar can't do much from the bottom here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lesnar takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Lesnar being controlled for a moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lesnar wants to get back to his feet.
Punk trying to control the position but Lesnar is working away.
Lesnar is looking to reverse the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lesnar looks winded!
Lesnar tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Punk looking to control but Lesnar is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Punk with a couple of short strikes.
Lesnar wants to control but Punk is having none of it.
Punk trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Punk putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lesnar taking shots to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That Punk dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Punk looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Punk cracks Lesnar with a right hand to the side of the head.
Lesnar tries to score a power double leg takedown but Punk sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lesnar somewhat.
Brock Lesnar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lesnar will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Lesnar looks to clinch

and Punk counters with a takedown into side control.
Lesnar tries to buck Punk off but Punk is having none of it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Punk wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lesnar, who protects the arm well.

Punk stands up.
Lesnar is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Punk tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lesnar swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Punk doesn't manage to clinch there - Lesnar circles away.
Punk shoots for a double leg takedown but Lesnar sprawls well. He's pushed Punk's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Punk dives in and grabs Lesnar's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lesnar pushes down on Punk's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for That Punk. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Lesnar takes the fight into the clinch.

Punk jumps into guard, dragging Lesnar to the mat.
Punk has Lesnar pulled in close to control his posture.

Punk throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lesnar stopping the sweep attempt from Punk.

Punk looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Lesnar is defending well. Punk quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Lesnar has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Punk celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). That Punk!
