Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nimro Kaijiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Dowal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Steve Dowal was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nimro Kaijiro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Steve Dowal! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Chris Saunders and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kaijiro moves out of range of the strikes. Dowal shoots for a double leg takedown but Kaijiro sprawls well. He's pushed Dowal's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Horrible takedown by Kaijiro or perhaps it was just good defense by Dowal which made him look bad. Kaijiro misses with a takedown attempt and Dowal counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Dowal trying to control the position from guard on top but Kaijiro is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kaijiro is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Dowal lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Dowal is looking to stand up but Kaijiro won't let him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dowal stands and steps away. Kaijiro gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Dowal misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Dowal fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kaijiro, pushing him back against the cage. Dowal wants the takedown. Kaijiro is fighting it off but Dowal persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Kaijiro's guard against the cage. Dowal wants to stand but Kaijiro is controlling his posture from full guard. Kaijiro is adopting a defensive guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dowal drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kaijiro looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kaijiro looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kaijiro! Dowal is looking for a sweep. Kaijiro thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Dowal tries to get back to half guard but can't. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Dowal is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Dowal is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Kaijiro has just dragged him back down to the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dowal struggling a bit here. Dowal tries to escape but Kaijiro is in control. Kaijiro is trying to get an arm triangle but Dowal is defending well. Kaijiro is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Dowal is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Kaijiro is trying to land an Americana. Dowal has his foot on Kaijiro's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kaijiro works his way back into a safe position though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Dowal is trying to keep Kaijiro in close.
Kaijiro drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kaijiro jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Dowal is trying to control the position but Kaijiro postures up. Dowal looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kaijiro is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Dowal is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Dowal seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's going to take a lot out of Steve Dowal. Dowal is looking to clinch. That kick from Dowal tenderised Kaijiro's leg. Kaijiro is trying to keep his angry face on. Dowal fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Dowal fails to land the takedown.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Dowal pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Kaijiro gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Dowal counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Dowal is looking for a kimura here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Dowal decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Dowal moves into range and clinches up with Kaijiro. Dowal's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Dowal throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kaijiro's waist but Kaijiro gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dowal off to one side. Dowal shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Dowal showed some decent athleticism there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Dowal regains full guard. Nicely done. Kaijiro drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Dowal dives on top into guard. Dowal thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Dowal throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kaijiro works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Dowal gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Nimro Kaijiro is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Dowal shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kaijiro's guard. Dowal stands up from Kaijiro's guard - Dowal perhaps looking for a knockout.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dowal closes the distance and clinches. Dowal gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Kaijiro regains guard.
Steve Dowal is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Dowal controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Dowal drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kaijiro looks panicked! And that's the end of the fight! Steve Dowal comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Dowal has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
