Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Roger Simms (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charlie De Smet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Roger Simms! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Charlie De Smet! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Albert Achterberg and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A punch combination from De Smet misses. Simms clinches up with De Smet and pushes him back against the cage. De Smet has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. De Smet working hard to break the clinch. De Smet's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. De Smet tries to clinch but Simms is having none of it. An inside leg kick lands from De Smet. Simms on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
De Smet gets caught napping as Simms dives in and scores a takedown. De Smet manages to retain guard. De Smet tries to land a sweep but no joy. De Smet utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Simms controlling from the top position. Simms working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Simms landing some decent shots from guard. De Smet preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Simms trying to control but De Smet is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Simms thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Simms has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Simms chips away with some ground and pound. Simms trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Simms is looking to work some ground and pound but De Smet has wrist control. De Smet wants to sweep here but Simms controlling him for the moment. De Smet working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Simms. Simms gets to his feet - De Smet follows without any prompting. Simms tries a head kick but it misses.
De Smet tries to close the distance and clinch but Simms swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Simms misses with a series of wild punches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. De Smet gets caught napping as Simms dives in and scores a takedown. De Smet manages to retain guard. Simms trying to control the position from guard on top but De Smet is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Simms won't allow De Smet to get back to his feet. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if De Smet can do anything to dispel that myth. Simms in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Simms cracks De Smet with a solid left hand. Simms throws a big elbow that misses. Simms not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Simms missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Simms scoring with some ground and pound. Simms working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Simms wants to control from the top but De Smet keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Simms sitting in guard here, content to control. Simms gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. De Smet tries to clinch up but Simms circles away and keeps his distance. De Smet swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
De Smet wants to clinch but Simms slips to the side and Simms counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Simms. De Smet is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Simms lands a couple of decent looking shots. Simms scoring with some ground and pound. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Simms working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of De Smet's head. Simms slips nicely into half guard. Ground and pound from Simms.
That's four minutes gone in the round. De Smet wants to control but Simms passes into side.
De Smet looks winded! Simms working the ground and pound. De Smet takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Simms is trying to get an arm triangle but De Smet is defending well. Simms landing strikes. De Smet is working to avoid the ground and pound but Simms connects with a decent elbow. Simms stands up and beckons De Smet to his feet. Simms throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. De Smet was covering up waiting for the punch and Simms finishes the takedown easily into guard. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Simms with a nice head shot there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Roger Simms dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
De Smet lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. De Smet fails with an attempt to clinch.
Simms throws a right hand that De Smet ducks under and follows up with a left that De Smet also avoids with ease. Simms throws a wild combination but nothing lands. De Smet throws a head kick but Simms moves out of range.
A punch combination from De Smet misses. Simms misses the jab. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Simms checks a leg kick. De Smet is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Roger Simms is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. De Smet throws a big shot that misses. Simms takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Simms throws a right and a left that both miss. A chopping leg kick lands by De Smet. De Smet tries to close the distance and clinch up but Simms swats him away and circles back towards the center. De Smet throws a nice outside leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Simms avoids a kick to the body.
Simms shoots for a double leg takedown but De Smet sprawls well. He's pushed Simms's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Simms feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. De Smet really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Simms. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Simms advances position into side control! Roger Simms overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Simms working the ground and pound. De Smet is trying to escape the position but Simms is controlling the position. Simms lands a decent elbow from side control. De Smet taking a bit of punishment here - Simms scoring with strikes. This has been an exciting period of action! De Smet on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Simms cracks De Smet with an elbow. That is naaassty. Simms is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. De Smet looks calm but he's in trouble here. Simms gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. De Smet is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Simms lets go of the hold and De Smet can pop his arm back in it's socket.
