Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Edson Gomes and Leandro Rodrigues.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva gets a double leg takedown into Vargas's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silva seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Silva tries to free his leg and advance position but Vargas is retaining full guard.

Silva stands and steps away. Vargas gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Vargas gets caught flat footed, as Silva shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Silva trying to control the position from guard on top but Vargas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Vargas manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Silva ducks under a wild hook from Vargas.
Horrible takedown by Silva or perhaps it was just good defense by Vargas which made him look bad.
Silva shoots in for a double leg but Vargas sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Silva moves out of range of the body kick.
Silva takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Silva stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Vargas.
Vargas stuffs the takedown.
Ryan Vargas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joanilson Silva.

Silva moves out of range as Vargas strikes.

Vargas lands a lovely overhand right.

and Vargas connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Silva moves forwards but Vargas connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Vargas throws the left hand but Silva avoids the punch easily.
Vargas throws a sloppy head kick and Silva moves out of range easily.
Vargas throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Vargas works Silva's body with a nice hook.
Vargas lands with a kick to the ribs.
Vargas swings for the body but Silva moves out of range.
Silva stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Vargas.
Vargas fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Silva on the wrong end of a nice hook.

A looping hook to the body misses from Vargas. Silva does a little dance to reset his feet.
Silva takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Silva ducks right into an uppercut from Vargas.
Vargas cracks a nice hook into Silva's ribs.
Vargas throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Silva on the side of the head.
Vargas digs a good hook to Silva's body.
Vargas turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Silva takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Vargas scores with a jab to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Silva wants to clinch up but Vargas keeps it at a distance.
Joanilson Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That kick from Vargas tenderised Silva's leg. Silva is trying to keep his angry face on.
Vargas scores with a hook to the body. Silva takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Silva goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Vargas bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Silva's head backwards.
Vargas throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

A jab from Vargas finds it's way through Silva's defenses.

Silva fails with an attempt to clinch.

Silva has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Silva there as he acknowledges the shot.

Silva shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Vargas but Vargas pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Silva drops his hands momentarily and Vargas takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Vargas looks to land a left hand but Silva moved out of range nicely.

Silva is breathing heavily.
Vargas looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Vargas lands with a shot to the body.
Vargas scores with a leg kick.
A decent looking cross lands there for Vargas.
Vargas connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Vargas throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Vargas sizes up Silva with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Vargas takes a swing at Silva's ribcage but misses.
Ryan Vargas is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Silva gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Vargas connects with a body shot that sends Silva's belly button to the back.

Vargas scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Vargas lands with a kick to the temple. Silva shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Vargas is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Silva can do to turn this around?
Silva wants to clinch but Vargas slips to the side
and Vargas counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Vargas circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Silva drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Vargas follows Silva to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!
