Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dan Gabble! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Antonio Lewis! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gabble fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lewis manages to avoid it. Antonio Lewis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gabble gets a takedown into half guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Gabble stops Lewis from getting back to his feet.
Gabble wants to pass the guard but Lewis is defending well. Lewis is refusing to be controlled, as Gabble sits in half guard. Gabble sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Lewis defending well though. Gabble wants to take a breather but Lewis is having none of it. Gabble lands with a punch from half guard. Lewis won't allow Gabble to pass to mount. Gabble thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lewis's head. Lewis tries to get to full guard but Gabble has control of the leg. Lewis trying to control but Gabble postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gabble wants to control but Lewis is keeping him busy. Gabble passes the guard and advances to mount! Gabble throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Lewis tries to reverse the position but Gabble maintains control. Gabble jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Lewis is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Lewis and Gabble has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Lewis prevents Gabble from improving position. Gabble working the head and body with strikes. Lewis takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gabble is looking to take a break and control but Lewis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Lewis takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gabble is putting a hurting on Lewis here, landing some big shots from side control. Gabble cracks Lewis with a big right hand but Lewis just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Lewis wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Gabble lands an elbow. Gabble throws a strike aimed at the side of Lewis's head but Lewis avoids it well. Gabble trying to control the position but Lewis is working away. Gabble is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Lewis will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The ground and pound from Gabble seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Lewis is being controlled here. Gabble trying to control the position but Lewis is working away. Gabble controls the position. Gabble tries to advance to mount but can't. Lewis tries to get back to half guard but can't. Lewis is not content to let Gabble control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Dan Gabble wasn't doing enough on the ground. Gabble will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Gabble circles away from the clinch attempt and Gabble counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Gabble passes Lewis's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Gabble looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Gabble is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Lewis is trying to stand back up but Gabble is controlling him
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Gabble is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Gabble seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Gabble is nestled in close to Lewis, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dan Gabble dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Gabble throws a looping overhand right but Lewis ducks down to avoid it. Gabble closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Lewis's guard. Gabble passes easily into side control. Nice work. Lewis is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Gabble is controlling him well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gabble creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Lewis sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Dan Gabble overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Gabble working the ground and pound from side control. Gabble throws an elbow but Lewis slips to the side and avoids it well. Gabble trying to control the position but Lewis is working away. Gabble is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lewis can do to turn this around? Lewis gets back to half guard. Gabble passes to full mount! Gabble dominating with strikes here. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gabble lands a heavy elbow. Lewis tries to hold on but Gabble pushes him away. Gabble trying to control but he's not successful this time. Gabble controlling from the full mount.

It looks like Antonio Lewis has been cut. Gabble wants to control the pace but Lewis is squirming around nicely. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gabble fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Lewis is rocked!
That has opened up Antonio Lewis's cut even more. Lewis tries to hold on but Gabble pushes him away. Lewis is breathing heavily. Gabble wants to finish this one by submission but Lewis is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Gabble. Gabble sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gabble has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Gabble is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Gabble!
