Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Collen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Trevis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ryan Collen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mario Trevis!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Eliza Hachem and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Collen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Collen tries to score a power double leg takedown but Trevis sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Collen somewhat.

Collen gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Trevis to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Trevis trying to control the position from guard on top but Collen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Trevis stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Collen misses with a takedown

and Trevis counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Collen's guard now.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Trevis is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Collen wants to control but Trevis passes easily into half guard.
Collen could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Trevis is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Collen is trying to stand up here but Trevis is controlling him well.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Trevis throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Trevis in particular looking to stall.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mario Trevis was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Trevis throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Collen tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Trevis is in Collen's guard.
Collen is breathing heavily.

Trevis gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Collen tries for a takedown but Trevis sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Trevis goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Collen rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Trevis's guard! Nice work there by Collen!

Trevis is looking for a triangle but Collen pushes his legs off easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Collen looks for a takedown but Trevis sprawls well.
Ryan Collen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Trevis closes the distance and clinches up with Collen, looking for a takedown. Trevis pushes Collen against the cage but Collen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Nice defenses there by Trevis.

Collen shoots in for a double leg but Trevis sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Trevis looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Collen!

Trevis cracks Collen with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Trevis jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Collen is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Collen and Trevis has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Trevis decides to stand up, so the ref orders Collen to his feet.
Trevis fails with a takedown attempt.
Collen shoots in for a double leg but Trevis sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Trevis takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Trevis shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Trevis was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Collen regains half guard.
Collen is looking to control Trevis's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Collen avoid being mounted?
Mario Trevis has got the better of the ground game so far.

Trevis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Collen is just riding it out for now. Trevis eventually gives up the hold.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Trevis wants to pass to mount but Collen is defending the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mario Trevis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Collen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Collen moves in looking to clinch but Trevis pushes him off.
Collen doesn't manage to clinch there - Trevis circles away.
Collen wants to clinch but Trevis slips to the side

and Trevis moves into the clinch.

Trevis decides to pull guard.

Collen drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Trevis manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Collen has Trevis in his guard.
Collen seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Trevis trying to control the position from guard on top but Collen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Collen looking to hit a scissor sweep but Trevis is one step ahead there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Collen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Ryan Collen just wasn't active enough.
Trevis throws a right and a left that Collen avoids nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Trevis looks to land a combination but Collen avoids it well.
Trevis thows a leg kick but Collen checks it

and Collen moves into the clinch.
Collen prevents a takedown attempt there.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Trevis drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Collen gets the underhooks and prevents it.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Trevis.

Collen pulls Trevis into guard.
Trevis wants to control from the top but Collen keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Collen throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Collen trying to keep a closed guard but Trevis is proving a slippery customer.

Trevis drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Collen manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Trevis has Collen in his guard.

Collen in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Trevis has his foot on Collen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Collen works his way back into a safe position though.
Collen wants to control from the top but Trevis keeps moving.

Trevis is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Collen is controlling him.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Mario Trevis.
I've got Trevis winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
