Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rafael Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Royce Gracy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie comes to the cage accompanied by Forfun-Largo dos leões. Gracy is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: We don't die we multiply. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Gracie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Royce Gracy! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Edson Gomes and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie with a lazy takedown attempt and Gracy holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Gracy pulls Gracie into guard.
Gracie wants to pass the guard but Gracy is keeping the position. Gracy lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Gracie! Gracy controlling the pace for now. Gracie is trying desperately to improve position. Gracie is bucking up trying to escape but Gracy cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracy prevents Gracie from getting the reversal. Gracie throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Gracie really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Gracy content just to control the position here. Gracy can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gracie is looking to escape. Gracie tries to reverse the position but Gracy maintains control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracy looking to control and managing it successfully. Gracy throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Gracie because Gracy loaded up on that one. Gracy tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gracy lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracy landing strikes, looking to finish! Gracy controlling the pace for now. Gracy prevents Gracie from getting the reversal. Gracy landing punches. Gracy content just to control the position here. It looks like Gracy might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Gracie is bucking up trying to escape but Gracy cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gracie wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Gracy.
Gracie tries to lock up and control but Gracy gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Gracy unloading with bombs! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gracy connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gracy wants to control the pace but Gracie is squirming around nicely. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Gracy throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Gracy tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Royce Gracy dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Gracy moves into range and clinches up with Gracie. Gracy manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Gracy manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Gracy gets in close and instigates a clinch. Gracy is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Gracie can't fight it off and eventually Gracy manages to take the fight to the floor. Gracie looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Gracy stopping the sweep attempt from Gracie. Gracie is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracy trying to control here.
Gracy kicks Gracie off and gets back to his feet. Gracie has his takedown stuffed and Gracy holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Gracy looking to throw knees to the head but Gracie is blocking nicely.
Gracy breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gracie misses with a takedown and Gracy counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Gracie looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gracy is one step ahead there. Gracy sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gracie's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gracy trying to pass the guard but Gracie defending well. Gracy wants to control but Gracie is keeping him busy. Gracie wants to get back to full guard but Gracy has passed into side control. Royce Gracy has got the better of the ground game so far. Gracy is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Gracy wants to control but Gracie is keeping him busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie tries to get back to half guard but can't. Gracy stands up. Gracy gets a double leg takedown into Gracie's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gracy throws a big right hand that misses. Gracy is working Gracie over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Gracy pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gracie is keeping the position for now. Gracy content to stall in guard here. Gracy pushing down on Gracie's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Gracy stands up and beckons Gracie to join him on the feet. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The fight moves into the clinch position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Royce Gracy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Gracy rushes Gracie and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Gracy manages to break the clinch.
Gracie doesn't succeed with the takedown and Gracy counters with a nice double leg into guard. Gracie looking for a guillotine here but Gracy defends easily.
Gracy is pushing down on Gracie's leg trying to pass to half guard. Gracie is fighting to maintain full guard but Gracy has managed to sneak the leg through. Gracie trying to control but Gracy postures up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracy trying to control the pace. The fighters are battling for position here. Gracie manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Gracy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Gracy sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gracie's guard. Gracy keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Gracie tries to get to full guard but Gracy has control of the leg. Gracy landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracy has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Gracy has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Gracy controlling the pace for now. Gracy's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Gracy dominating with strikes here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracy controlling from mount. Gracy with shots to the head and body - Gracie looks very uncomfortable down there. Gracy working away from the top, dropping strikes. Gracy looking to control and managing it successfully. Gracy lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gracy unloading with bombs! Gracy takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Rafael Gracie has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! This has been an exciting period of action! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that's the end of the fight! Royce Gracy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Gracy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
