Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Max Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cory Rice!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson keeps the fight on the outside.
Rice lands a two punch combo.
Anderson misses with an uppercut
and Rice counters with a left and a right that stings Anderson.

Rice gets caught napping as Anderson dives in and scores a takedown. Rice manages to retain guard.
Anderson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
This has been an exciting period of action!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Rice wants to sweep but no luck.
Anderson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Rice looking to hit a scissor sweep but Anderson is one step ahead there.
Anderson chips away with some ground and pound.
Anderson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rice works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Rice has his foot on Anderson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Anderson works his way back into a safe position though.

Rice had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Anderson defends it easily.

Anderson stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Rice rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Anderson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Rice works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Max Anderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Anderson takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
A left and a right from Anderson both land. Nice combination.


It looks like Cory Rice has been cut.
Anderson misses with a series of wild punches.

Anderson drives through with a takedown into guard.
Anderson is breathing heavily.
Anderson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rice is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Anderson has his hands clasped together but Rice extends an breaks Anderson's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Rice.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Cory Rice!
