PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nikolai Radev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryan Joseph (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nikolai Radev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bryan Joseph!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joseph throws a head kick that misses.
Joseph stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Radev.
Joseph takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Radev forces Joseph back against the cage and clinches.

Radev breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Joseph chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Nice shot lands for Radev.

Radev instigates a clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Radev controlling the action here for a moment.
Radev misses with a hook to the ribs.
Radev lands a body shot.

Radev manages to break the clinch.

Joseph has managed to clinch.
Radev lands a body shot.
Joseph looks winded!
A head punch blocked on the inside by Radev.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Radev.

Radev tightens his grip and picks Joseph up, before dumping him to the ground. Joseph manages to land in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Radev advances to half guard.
Radev takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Radev is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Radev has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Radev keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Radev working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Radev controlling the action here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Radev seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Still in half guard, Radev seems content to control.
Radev works his way into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The referee asks Radev politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Radev prefers to stall for the moment though.

Joseph takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.


Joseph is rocked!
Radev cracks Joseph with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Radev immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Joseph is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Radev!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nikolai Radev!
Nikolai Radev seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
