Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jose Aldos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jackie Can (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aldos's entrance music is Sobota-raczej. A fine choice. Jose Aldos had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 173.0lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jose Aldos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jackie Can!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Radbod Blank and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Can scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Can is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Can seems to be looking for submissions.

Can really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Aldos. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Aldos can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Can is looking to escape.

That was a close round but I would say that Jose Aldos will probably get the nod.

Can is struggling to control the position.

Can throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Aldos's head.

and Can counters with a leg kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Can looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Can lands an elbow inside.

Can escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Can moves into the clinch.

Can breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Aldos closes the distance and clinches up with Can, looking for a takedown. Aldos pushes Can against the cage but Can circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Can slaps away a takedown attempt from Aldos, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Can throws a leg kick which misses Aldos's front leg but catches the back leg as Aldos tries to avoid it.

Can loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Can has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Aldos is proving hard to escape from.
Aldos keeping moving, preventing Can from controlling successfully.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Can must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Can lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Jackie Can showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Can fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Aldos, pushing him back against the cage.
Can lands an elbow that stopped Aldos in his tracks for a moment.


It looks like Jose Aldos has been cut.
Can utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Can is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Can is pushing Aldos up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Jackie Can seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Can throws a head kick that Aldos semi-blocks.

Can takes the fight into the clinch.
Can has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Can pressing his opponent against the cage.

Can gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Aldos.
Can gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Can prevents Aldos from breaking the clinch.

Can's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Can closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Aldos to the mat! Aldos manages to get full guard.

Can throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Aldos works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Can looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Can would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Aldos is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Can has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Aldos is proving hard to escape from.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Can drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Aldos manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Can has Aldos in his guard.
Can lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Aldos!

Jackie Can comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Can has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
