Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Daniel Summit! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Popeye El Marino! The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Viktor Lagutenko and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! El Marino pulls out of a head kick attempt.
El Marino throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. El Marino punishes Summit's body with a nice straight punch. El Marino closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Summit to the mat! Summit manages to get full guard. El Marino postures up.
El Marino trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. El Marino preventing the sweep. El Marino wants to control from the top but Summit keeps moving. Summit is trying to control the position but El Marino postures up. El Marino not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Daniel Summit wasn't doing enough on the ground. El Marino looking to score a takedown here. Summit is defending well but El Marino drives through and ends up in Summit's guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Summit looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. El Marino throws a big right hand that misses. Summit could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. El Marino engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Summit keeping moving, preventing El Marino from controlling successfully. El Marino seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Popeye El Marino was stalling too much, according to the referee. Sloppy strikes from El Marino. Those never looked like landing. El Marino shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Summit defends it nicely. Summit throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around El Marino's waist but El Marino gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Summit off to one side.
That's two minutes gone in the round. El Marino scores with a takedown into Summit's guard. Summit avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Summit is breathing heavily. El Marino wants to control from the top but Summit keeps moving. El Marino stands and steps away. Summit gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. El Marino has a takedown stuffed. Summit cracks the inside of El Marino's front leg.
That's three minutes gone in the round. El Marino closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Summit's guard. El Marino postures up.
El Marino controls the pace of the fight for a moment. El Marino passes Summit's left leg - he's now in half guard. Summit might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Summit is trying to get back to full guard. El Marino gets to his feet - back to striking we go! El Marino misses with a few strikes there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. El Marino closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. El Marino stops a takedown attempt from Summit.

Summit looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? El Marino is fending him off so far but Summit persists. Nope, El Marino circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Summit. That's going to take a lot out of him. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! El Marino closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. El Marino decides to stand up. A momentary lapse in concentration from Summit enables El Marino to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Summit manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. El Marino is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. El Marino passes into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Popeye El Marino dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
El Marino gets a takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. El Marino stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. El Marino stuffs the takedown. El Marino misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Summit misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. El Marino has closed the distance and engaged Summit in a clinch.
Summit is looking for a takedown up against the cage. El Marino gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Summit. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. El Marino is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Summit is defending well. Summit drops down looking for an ankle pick but El Marino pulls his leg out and moves away.
El Marino closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - El Marino lands in his opponent's guard. El Marino is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. El Marino works a leg free and moves into half guard. Summit has hold of El Marino's hands but El Marino slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. El Marino blocks the strikes from Summit.
El Marino decides to stand up. El Marino fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Summit manages to avoid it. Nice sprawl there from Summit as El Marino shoots in. El Marino swats away the attempt to clinch by Summit. El Marino throws a sloppy head kick and Summit moves out of range easily. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Summit circles away from the clinch attempt.
Summit leaves El Marino with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. El Marino tries to close the distance and clinch up but Summit swats him away and circles back towards the center.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Summit tries to score a power double leg takedown but El Marino sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Summit somewhat. Summit gets caught napping as El Marino dives in and scores a takedown. Summit manages to retain guard. El Marino passes easily into side control. Nice work. El Marino works to advance to full mount. Summit defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. El Marino with good strikes from the mount here! Summit can't escape the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. El Marino is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Summit can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. El Marino controlling from mount. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Summit is looking to get to half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. El Marino looking to control and managing it successfully. El Marino scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Popeye El Marino showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

That's going to take a lot out of him. El Marino will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Summit up against the cage. Summit has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by El Marino after a bit of a struggle. El Marino gets control of Summit's arms and successfully pulls guard. El Marino will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. El Marino is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. El Marino seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
That's two minutes gone in the round. El Marino frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. El Marino controlling from mount. El Marino has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Summit is forced to tap!
