Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joko Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Corey Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith has chosen Baby, One More Time - Ten Masked Men as his entrance music. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joko Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Corey Smith!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Dean Styles and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz tries to land a leg kick but Smith saw it coming and moves away.
Smith circles away from the clinch attempt
and Smith counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Smith scores with a crisp jab that stopped Diaz in his tracks.
Diaz tries to work over Smith's front leg with a kick but Smith checks it.
Diaz blocks a jab.
Smith moves into range and connects with a jab.


It looks like Joko Diaz has been cut.

Smith gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Diaz to score an easy takedown into full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Diaz wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.

Diaz will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Smith fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Diaz manages to avoid it.
Diaz misses the jab.
Smith throws a hook but Diaz avoids it easily.
Diaz tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Smith throws an off balance right hand
and Diaz counters with a low kick, right behind Smith 's knee.
Smith uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Diaz.

Diaz fails with a takedown attempt.
Diaz looks to clinch
and Smith counters with a left to the body.
Smith misses with a double jab.
Smith throws a lazy uppercut
and Diaz counters with a one-two to the body.
Smith lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Diaz ducks under a wild hook from Smith.
Diaz displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Smith throws out the jab.
Smith circles away from the clinch attempt.
Diaz bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Smith digs a good body shot into Diaz's ribs.
A punch lands to the side of Diaz 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Diaz misses the shot to the body.
Diaz has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Smith finds it's way round the side to connect with Diaz's head.
Smith lands with a shot to the body.
Diaz throws out a loose jab but Smith uses good head movement to avoid it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Diaz avoids a punch combination nicely.
Corey Smith is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Diaz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but Diaz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Diaz tries to free his leg and advance position but Smith is retaining full guard.

Diaz drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Smith manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Diaz has Smith in his guard.
Diaz pulls Smith in close to prevent any damage.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Joko Diaz wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Diaz keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Joko Diaz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Smith throws a shot to the body.
Smith thows a left - swing and a miss!

Smith ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
No joy there for Diaz, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Smith stuns Diaz with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Diaz tries to clinch up but Smith circles away and keeps his distance.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Diaz looks for the body kick but Smith saw that one coming.
Diaz moves away from the strike by Smith.

Smith throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
No joy there for Smith, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Smith is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Smith looks to throw the jab but Diaz is out of range.
Diaz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Diaz on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Smith misses with a wild body shot.
Smith swinging wildly here.
Smith looks to land a left hand but Diaz moved out of range nicely.

Smith throws a hook but Diaz blocks it.
Diaz looks for a takedown but Smith sprawls well.
Corey Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Diaz fails with the takedown.

Diaz tries to clinch but Smith is having none of it.
Diaz looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Diaz ducks under a wild hook from Smith.
Diaz closes this distance looking for a takedown but Smith circles away.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Smith as he avoids it easily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Smith lands with a big left! Diaz is wobbled badly! Smith comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Diaz to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.

After winning the bout, Corey Smith thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
