Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Silva! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Leonardo Vanprado! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Leandro Rodrigues and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vanprado moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Vanprado should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Silva throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Vanprado's waist but Vanprado gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Silva off to one side. Silva shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Vanprado napping and manages to drive through into side control! The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Silva is trying to get an arm triangle but Vanprado is defending well. Silva has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Silva misses with a takedown attempt - Vanprado sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Vanprado looks to land a combination. Silva sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Silva fails with a takedown attempt from distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him. Silva looking to score a takedown here. Vanprado is defending well but Silva drives through and ends up in Vanprado's guard. Vanprado looking to hit a scissor sweep but Silva is one step ahead there. Silva decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vanprado lands a lovely overhand right. Vanprado misses with a jab, cross combination.
Vanprado throws a series of punches but Silva moves out of range. Vanprado misses with a wild combination.
Silva is trying hard to land a takedown here. Vanprado sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. A punch combination from Vanprado misses. Left hook, right uppercut from Vanprado. Vanprado looks winded! Vanprado swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Silva checks the leg kick nicely there.
Silva tries for a takedown but Vanprado sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Silva gets a takedown into half guard. Silva seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Vanprado is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
