The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Daniel Blasius and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
David tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Vartanov manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Vartanov bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Vartanov tried to score with a low kick but David checks it.
David has taken the fight to the clinch.
Vartanov is trying to force a seperation but David has the dominant position.
David is working for takedown but Vartanov is calmly controlling the position for now.
David pulls guard successfully.
Vartanov is looking to stand up but David won't let him.
Vartanov is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

David has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
David walks into a straight right hand from Vartanov.

David won't allow Vartanov to sweep him here.
Vartanov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for David on the ground.

David postures up in Vartanov's guard and throws a big left but Vartanov blocks it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Vartanov throws a perfectly timed hook that sends David crashing down! David tries to stagger back to his feet but Vartanov just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused David asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.
