Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Terry Tate!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
10 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason McGully!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Trevor Gratis and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Tate.
Terry Tate seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A looping hook to the body misses from McGully. Tate does a little dance to reset his feet.
Tate shoots in for a takedown but McGully shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Tate tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but McGully swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Terry Tate. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McGully displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Tate.
McGully is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Tate doesn't succeed with the takedown
and McGully counters with a two punch combo.
Horrible takedown by Tate or perhaps it was just good defense by McGully which made him look bad.
Tate with a poor takedown
and McGully counters with a stiff right hand.
Tate darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Tate stops McGully from getting back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round.
McGully tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Tate manages to move to mount!
McGully is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
A nice elbow there by Tate.
McGully's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Tate with the ground and pound from mount.

Tate has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of McGully's face.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tate won't let McGully get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
The referee warns McGully that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McGully is bucking up trying to escape but Tate cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Tate lands a big elbow - McGully is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and McGully is forced to tap out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Terry Tate!
