Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Yang Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Materson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lee comes into the arena with Japanese National Anthem blaring out of the sound system. Mike Materson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yang Lee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Materson! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Daniel Franklin and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lee gets in close and instigates a clinch. Lee jumps guard and drags Materson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Lee scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Lee. Materson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Lee napping and manages to drive through into side control! Materson goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Lee has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Materson but great work by Lee. Sloppy strikes there by Lee. Materson wants to get back to his feet but Lee drags him back down. Materson is looking for a sweep. Lee stands up and we're back to a striking position. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A nice leg kick lands there from Lee. Materson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lee's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Materson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Materson wants to control from the top but Lee keeps moving. Lee has his hands on Materson's head, controlling the position. Materson wants to control from the top but Lee keeps moving. Lee wants to stand and escape but Materson is having none of it. Lee has his feet on Materson's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Lee shoots in looking for a takedown but Materson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lee's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Materson swats away the attempt to clinch by Lee. Lee keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Materson with a poor takedown and Lee counters by clinching up. Materson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Lee is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Yang Lee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Materson. Lee misses with a knee to the head. Lee prevents a takedown attempt there.
Lee escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Lee tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Lee moves into the clinch. Materson on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Materson blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Materson wants the takedown. Lee is fighting it off but Materson persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Lee's guard against the cage. Materson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Materson passes Lee's right leg, so he's now in half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Materson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lee's head. Materson missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Materson seems to be looking for submissions.
Materson is trying to work for a kimura but Lee is defending well.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Materson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Lee knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Materson lands strikes from half guard. Materson thows a huge punch but Lee dodges it nicely.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Materson with the ground and pound but Lee uses the opportunity to regain guard. Lee might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Materson postures up in Lee's guard and throws a big left but Lee blocks it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Materson trying to move into half guard but instead Lee has managed to sweep! The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Lee looking to sit in guard and control but Materson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Lee wants to stand but Materson is controlling the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Mike Materson will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Materson. Materson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lee to the mat! Lee manages to get full guard. Materson throws a strike but Lee rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Lee gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Materson shoots in and bounces Lee off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Materson with a flurry of punches that miss. Materson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lee avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Materson wants to control from the top but Lee keeps moving. Materson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Lee utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Materson tries to free his leg and advance position but Lee is retaining full guard. Materson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Lee avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Materson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Lee wants to get back to his feet but Materson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Materson trying to control but Lee is working from the bottom. Lee wants to stand and escape but Materson is having none of it. Materson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Materson prevents Lee from getting back to his feet. Materson throws a big elbow that misses. Materson throws an elbow that misses. Lee uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Materson's guard. Nice move by Lee! Lee throws a big right hand that misses.

Lee tries to clinch but Materson moves out of range. Materson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lee's waist but Lee gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Materson off to one side. Yang Lee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Materson. Materson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Materson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Lee to the ground. Materson is now in Lee's guard. Materson is breathing heavily. Materson with a flurry of punches that miss. Mike Materson has got the better of the ground game so far. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Materson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Materson forces his way into half guard. Materson sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Lee defending well though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lee regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Materson. Materson controlling from the top position. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lee working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Materson. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Materson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Mike Materson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Lee's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Lee scoring well with a low kick there.

Mike Materson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Lee moves to clinch but Materson breaks away and Materson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Materson is looking to take a break and control but Lee is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Lee tries to kick Materson off but Materson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that's the end of the fight! Yang Lee showed his dominance in that final round. I think Materson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
