PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sean Dignam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ace Espinoza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Espinoza is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: krolithika. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sean Dignam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of London, Ace Espinoza!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Espinoza throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Dignam counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Dignam.
Dignam throwing strikes from guard but Espinoza blocks nicely.
Dignam working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Dignam has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Dignam postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Dignam postures up in Espinoza's guard and throws a big left but Espinoza blocks it.
Dignam lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Espinoza looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Dignam stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Espinoza swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The fighters are battling for position here. Espinoza manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Dignam is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Espinoza is just riding it out for now. Dignam eventually gives up the hold.

Espinoza throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Dignam escapes and throws Espinoza's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Dignam goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Espinoza has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Dignam but great work by Espinoza.

Dignam is looking for a sweep.

Espinoza stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Espinoza is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Dignam.
Ace Espinoza is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Good exchange - Espinoza coming out on top.


It looks like Sean Dignam has been cut.
Espinoza throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Espinoza is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Dignam.
Espinoza dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Dignam. That did some damage!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sean Dignam will probably get the nod.

Espinoza punishes Dignam's body with a nice straight punch.
Espinoza looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Dignam is trying hard to land a takedown here. Espinoza sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Espinoza moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Espinoza works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Espinoza scores with a kick to the midsection.
Espinoza throws a sloppy head kick and Dignam moves out of range easily.
Espinoza throws a one two combo.
Espinoza thumps Dignam with a low kick.
Dignam has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Dignam there as he acknowledges the shot.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Espinoza lands a nice shot to the body.

Espinoza throws a nice outside leg kick.
Espinoza lands a really nice looking cross but Dignam seems unphased.
Ace Espinoza seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Espinoza darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Espinoza buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Dignam wants to stay close but Espinoza steps back to make room for something. Dignam seems frozen to the spot and bam! huge swing of the leg from Espinoza and Dignam drops like he has been shot! A huge head kick and it's all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Ace Espinoza!
Ace Espinoza decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
