Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Stephen Sovey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Blaam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stephen Sovey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tommy Blaam!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Alyssa Summers and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blaam throws a hook to the side of Sovey's head but Sovey sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Blaam scores with a takedown into Sovey's guard.
Blaam trying to control the position from guard on top but Sovey is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sovey pulls Blaam in close to prevent any damage.
Sovey bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Blaam's guard.
Sovey sitting in guard here, content to control.
Blaam is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Sovey passes Blaam's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Blaam is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sovey looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Blaam tries to roll over but Sovey keeps him under control.
Blaam blocking the ground and pound attempt from Sovey.
Blaam wants to get back to full guard.
Blaam is trying to maintain the position but Sovey is very close to passing his half guard.
Sovey works his way into side control.
Blaam is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Sovey tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sovey stands up.
Blaam blocks the body kick.
Blaam shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sovey but Sovey pushes him off and we're back to square one.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Blaam has his takedown stuffed

and Sovey counters by moving into the clinch.
Blaam looks winded!
Sovey looking for a takedown.
Sovey prevents the takedown attempt.
Stephen Sovey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tommy Blaam.
Blaam jumps guard but Sovey stands there with Blaam around his waist. Blaam gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Blaam tries to pull guard but Sovey forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Blaam is looking to take this one to the mat.
Blaam gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Sovey.

Sovey jumps into guard, dragging Blaam to the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sovey has Blaam pulled in close to control his posture.
Blaam really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sovey. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sovey lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Blaam!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stephen Sovey dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Sovey leaves Blaam with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Blaam fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sovey avoids it really well and circles away.
Blaam throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Sovey counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Blaam looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sovey is fending him off so far but Blaam persists. Nope, Sovey circles away and we're back to standing.
Stephen Sovey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tommy Blaam.
A bone on bone clash there as Sovey blocks the leg kick.

Sovey darts in and clinches Blaam up against the cage.
Sovey drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Blaam gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Blaam is breathing heavily.

Sovey jumps guard and drags Blaam to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sovey controlling the position.
Blaam trying to control but Sovey is working from the bottom.

Blaam is posturing up here but Sovey has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Blaam tries to roll out but it's too tight and Blaam has to tap! Slick submission there by Sovey!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Stephen Sovey!
