Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Cormier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cormier comes to the cage accompanied by Grafh - Knock'em Down. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Cormier! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Johnson! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson looks to land a combination but Cormier avoids it well. Johnson pushes Cormier up against the cage in a clinch. Cormier pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Johnson misses with the combination.
The fight stays on the outside here - Johnson looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Johnson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cormier napping and manages to drive through into side control! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Cormier can't do much from the bottom here. Cormier is trying to improve his position. Cormier is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Johnson's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Cormier might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Cormier gets back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson advances to half guard. Cormier kicks Johnson off and gets back to his feet. Cormier feints and as Johnson raises his hands in defense, Cormier changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Johnson keeping full guard, as Cormier tries to pass. Cormier is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Cormier would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cormier trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Johnson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cormier. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cormier has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Johnson avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Johnson goes for a takedown attempt but Cormier pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Johnson smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Johnson avoids the head kick by Cormier.
Johnson shoots in and bounces Cormier off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Johnson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Johnson being controlled here momentarily. Cormier manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Johnson wants to control but Cormier is having none of it. Cormier landing punches. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cormier can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Johnson is looking to escape. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Daniel Cormier will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Johnson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Cormier walks into a left hand. Cormier misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Cormier swinging wildly here.
Daniel Cormier is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Johnson tries to clinch up. Cormier looking to score a takedown here. Johnson is defending well but Cormier drives through and ends up in Johnson's guard. Johnson wants to sweep here but Cormier controlling him for the moment. Cormier keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Johnson's head.

Cormier won't allow Johnson to sweep him here. Cormier trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Johnson keeping moving, preventing Cormier from controlling successfully. Cormier is really struggling to control Johnson but he's trying to hold on to the position. Cormier passes into half guard. Johnson won't allow Cormier to pass to mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cormier passes to side control. Cormier decides to stand back up. Cormier steps back and let's Johnson get back to his feet. Johnson fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Johnson is breathing heavily. Cormier connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Johnson's hands. Johnson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cormier sprawls well initially but Johnson persists and gets the takedown into half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Cormier trying to control but Johnson postures up.

Cormier working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Johnson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Johnson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Daniel Cormier overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Johnson is looking to stand up but Cormier won't let him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Cormier tries to land a sweep but no joy. Cormier has his foot on Johnson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Johnson works his way back into a safe position though. Johnson wants to control from the top but Cormier keeps moving. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Johnson won't allow Cormier to get back to his feet. Cormier looking to sweep here. No luck so far. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nice sprawl there from Johnson as Cormier shoots in. Johnson is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Johnson uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. David Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Johnson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Johnson wants to control but Cormier is keeping him busy. Daniel Cormier is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Johnson is thwarting Cormier's attempts to control the position.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Daniel Cormier. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cormier, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
