The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sokoudjou thows a body shot but no joy.
Sokoudjou looks for a takedown but Kongo sprawls well.
Sokoudjou scores with a sloppy right hand. Kongo should have avoided that one.
Kongo lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Some bone on bone action there as Sokoudjou checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
A looping hook to the body misses from Sokoudjou. Kongo does a little dance to reset his feet.
Sokoudjou throws a series of punches but Kongo moves out of range.
Sokoudjou throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kongo sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Kongo takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Sokoudjou tries to work over Kongo's front leg with a kick but Kongo checks it.

Sokoudjou throws a front kick that sends Kongo stumbling back into the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kongo misses with a hook. Sokoudjou ducked under it nicely.
Sloppy strikes from Sokoudjou. Those never looked like landing.

Sokoudjou takes a swing at Kongo's ribcage but misses.

and Sokoudjou counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Sokoudjou stalks Kongo and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Kongo's face. Kongo staggers backwards, shaken.

Sokoudjou shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Sokoudjou was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Kongo is squirming around, avoiding Sokoudjou's attempts to control the action.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kongo tries to improve his position but Sokoudjou has taken his back! Sokoudjou has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Kongo tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Sokoudjou pushes Kongo away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Rashad Sokoudjou!
