Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Larry Bags (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renato Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bags comes to the cage accompanied by Rob Zombie - SuperBeast. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Larry Bags! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Renato Alves! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Alexandre Firmino and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bags keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Bags fails to land with a series of punches.
Alves misses with a straight right. Alves throws an overhand right that lands on Bags's shoulder, as Bags tries to avoid the shot. Alves throws a right hand that Bags ducks under and follows up with a left that Bags also avoids with ease. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Bags!
Alves moves out of range of the body kick from Bags.
Bags tries to clinch but Alves moves out of range. Bags misses with a body shot.
Alves scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Bags doesn't seem bothered though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Horrible takedown by Bags or perhaps it was just good defense by Alves which made him look bad. Bags blocks a jab. Alves fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Bags checks it well. Bags swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Bags avoids a lazy jab quite easily. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bags.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Bags misses with a takedown attempt - Alves sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Larry Bags. That's going to take a lot out of him. Bags wants to clinch up but Alves keeps it at a distance. Alves throws the left hand but Bags avoids the punch easily. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Alves. Bags moves out of range of the strikes.

Bags keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Alves. Alves drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bags tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Alves wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Alves throws an elbow but Bags slips to the side and avoids it well. Alves is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Bags is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Bags manages to work his way to half guard, despite Alves's best efforts. Bags tries to get to full guard but Alves has control of the leg. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Alves lands a nice short elbow. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Alves wants to free his trapped foot but Bags is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bags looking for submissions off his back. Bags has one foot on Alves's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Alves throws a predictable looking body shot
and Bags counters with a nice double leg into side control. Alves won't be happy with that. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Bags wants to control but Alves is keeping him busy. Alves is trying to get back to half guard. Alves manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Bags looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Bags is breathing heavily. Alves is looking for a sweep. Bags is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bags doesn't succeed with the takedown and Alves counters with a left to the body. Alves drives through with a takedown into guard.

He'll be looking to tighten that up but Alves can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Bags keeping full guard, as Alves tries to pass. Alves lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Alves drops back looking for a leg! Bags is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bags manages to kick Alves off! Alves jumps back into Bags's guard. Alves works over Bags with some ground and pound from guard. Alves stops Bags from standing up. Bags throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Alves is looking to work some ground and pound but Bags has wrist control.

Alves must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Alves gets to his feet. Bags looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! The fighters are pinned against the cage. Alves manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Alves gets a takedown into half guard. Alves has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Bags is looking to get to half guard. Alves is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Bags has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Bags is pressing down on Alves's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Bags is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Alves gets back to full guard.
Alves is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Bags stands up and waves to Alves to follow him. Bags staying out of range there.

Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Alves is looking for a sweep. Alves manages to work his way to half guard, despite Bags's best efforts. Alves makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Alves. Alves is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Bags forces his way into half guard. Alves is looking to improve his position.
