Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nicholas Strike (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Striker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, John Roberts and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Striker as Strike shoots in.
Strike tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Striker takes the fight into the clinch.
Striker has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Strike after a bit of a struggle.
Striker on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Strike is trying to pull guard but Striker turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Striker manages to pull guard.
Striker has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Striker is looking for a triangle but Strike pushes his legs off easily.
Strike wants to pass the guard but Striker is keeping the position.
Striker is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Strike is controlling him.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Nicholas Strike wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Strike closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Striker quickly recovers to half guard.

Strike looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Striker is refusing to be controlled, as Strike sits in half guard.

Strike is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Striker has managed to free his arm - good work.
Striker is looking for a sweep. Strike is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Striker is not content to let Strike control the position.
Striker manages to get to full guard.

Striker should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Striker can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Strike controls the pace.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Strike throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Striker closes the distance and clinches up with Strike, looking for a takedown. Striker pushes Strike against the cage but Strike circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Nicholas Strike will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Striker throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Strike is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.


It looks like Jason Striker has been cut.
Striker tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Strike paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Strike shoots in but no luck this time.
Striker pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Strike stuns Striker with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Strike moves in looking to clinch but Striker pushes him off.
Striker is breathing heavily.

Striker defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Strike.

Strike clinches up with Striker and pushes him back against the cage.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Strike has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Striker is trying to keep an underhook but Strike manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Strike's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Striker stuffs the takedown attempt from Strike. Strike gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nicholas Strike. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Strike closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Striker might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Strike kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Strike stands and steps away. Striker gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Striker takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Strike.
Strike changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Striker tries to avoid it but Strike manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Striker to the ground. Striker escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Nicholas Strike overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Striker is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Strike takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Strike, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
