Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pawel Wisniewski!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Columbo Gatti and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Wisniewski misses the target.
James misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Wisniewski takes a swing at James's ribcage but misses.
A chopping leg kick lands by James.
James throws a leg kick but Wisniewski moved away.
Wisniewski with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling James to score with a decent uppercut.


It looks like Pawel Wisniewski has been cut.
James looks to land a body kick but Wisniewski moved away.
Wisniewski misses with a body shot.
James smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
James misses with a wild body shot.
Wisniewski looks to score with a jab to the body but James is just out of range.

James wants to slow Wisniewski down by chopping away at his legs.

Pawel Wisniewski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wisniewski dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on James. That did some damage!
James lands with a thumping leg kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

James looks to land a right hand but Wisniewski moved out of range.
James stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Wisniewski.

Wisniewski drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Wisniewski misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Wisniewski happy to just control the position for now.
James is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

James manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

James has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
James takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Wisniewski defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from James.

James lands a big shot to the head and Wisniewski winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Ron James!
After the fight, Ron James was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
