Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rony Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rony Jones is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rony Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Josh Ellis!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones misses with a head kick.
Jones wants to clinch up but Ellis keeps it at a distance.
Ellis ducks under a wild hook from Jones.
A telegraphed right hand from Ellis misses the target.

Ellis looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Jones is looking to escape.

Ellis decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Jones moves into the clinch successfully.

Ellis has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Jones regains guard immediately.

Jones wants to stand and escape but Ellis is having none of it.

Ellis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jones misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Jones is breathing heavily.
Ellis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jones as he jumps to the side.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ellis has taken the fight to the clinch.
Jones tries to land knees in the clinch but Ellis avoids the damage to the body.

Ellis has clasped his hands together around Jones's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Let's hope that Ellis has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ellis stands up and beckons Jones to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jones closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ellis circles away.

Ellis will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Jones up against the cage.

Jones struggles to land a body shot inside as Ellis controls his hands.

Ellis gets control of Jones's arms and successfully pulls guard. Ellis will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Ellis wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The referee is keeping an eye on Ellis - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Jones is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Jones tries to pull guard but Ellis holds him up against the cage and eventually Jones drops back down to his feet.

Jones shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ellis but Ellis pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Ellis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Ellis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jones rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ellis moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ellis displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jones.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Josh Ellis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Ellis drives through and clinches with Jones against the cage.

Ellis turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Ellis decides to stand back up. Ellis steps back and let's Jones get back to his feet.

Jones slaps away a takedown attempt from Ellis, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Jones shoots in but Ellis avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jones throws a head kick that misses.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Ellis throws a wild body kick that Jones sees coming a mile off.

Jones tries to keep at a distance but Ellis has taken the fight into the clinch.

Ellis jumps into guard, dragging Jones to the mat.
Ellis manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Ellis throws some wild stikes that Jones manages to avoid easily.
Ellis tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ellis is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Jones is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Ellis lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Ellis is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Jones is forced to tap! Great finish!
