PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Simon Adebesi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kiyoshi Matsumoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matsumoto has chosen Carl Douglas - Kung fu fighting as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Simon Adebesi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kiyoshi Matsumoto!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Eliza Hachem and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adebesi missing with a left hand there. Matsumoto was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Matsumoto lands a high kick!
Matsumoto avoids a punch combination nicely.
Adebesi takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Matsumoto throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Adebesi tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Matsumoto is in Adebesi's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Matsumoto wants to pass the guard but Adebesi is keeping the position.
Matsumoto is in close to Adebesi's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Adebesi wants to get back to his feet but Matsumoto is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Matsumoto slips nicely into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Matsumoto slips a nice elbow through Adebesi's hands, connecting with Adebesi's forehead.

Matsumoto is keen to just control but Adebesi is a slippery customer.

Adebesi trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Matsumoto thows a huge punch but Adebesi dodges it nicely.
Matsumoto wants to pass the guard but Adebesi is defending well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Adebesi is looking to escape.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Matsumoto lands a nice short elbow.

Matsumoto wants to work for an arm triangle but Adebesi is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Matsumoto has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Matsumoto is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Oh Adebesi is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Matsumoto scores with a big shot! Adebesi's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Adebesi! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kiyoshi Matsumoto!
A very excited looking Kiyoshi Matsumoto made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
