Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jamie Cooney!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Drake!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Hugh Johnson and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drake gets off balance looking for a body kick

and Cooney counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Drake's guard now.
Drake working a defensive guard here.
Cooney slips nicely into half guard.
Cooney stalling away here and it's allowed Drake to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Drake has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Cooney wants to pass the guard but Drake is keeping the position.

Cooney stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Drake swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Cooney wants to pass the guard but Drake is keeping the position.

Drake wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jamie Cooney.

Cooney shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Drake napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Cooney tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cooney has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Cooney stands up and we're back to a striking position.
A head kick misses from Drake.

Cooney shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Cooney showed some decent athleticism there.

Cooney throws a strike but Drake avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Cooney seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Drake does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Nick Drake has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Cooney wants to free his trapped foot but Drake is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Jamie Cooney has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Cooney changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Drake looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Cooney slows the pace down.
Cooney is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Drake can do to turn this around?
Cooney tries to move to full mount but Drake actually manages to regain half guard.

Cooney is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Cooney is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
