Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rayce Gracie! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sozu Arghei! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Daniel Blasius and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Arghei manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Gracie slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Gracie tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gracie has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Gracie laying and praying for a moment but Arghei takes advantage and regains half guard. Arghei is doing well to control the position and prevent Gracie from advancing to side control. Gracie is working for a kimura but Arghei is defending it quite comfortably.

Arghei is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Gracie seems to be working for a kimura but Arghei defends the submission attempt. Arghei really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
