Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Malutin Andrey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nunca Subestime O Palmeiras!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Andrey scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Andrey lands a high kick!
It looks like Nunca Subestime O Palmeiras has been cut.
Andrey feints and then cracks O Palmeiras's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow O Palmeiras down.
Andrey fails to land with a series of punches.
Andrey looks to score with a jab to the body but O Palmeiras is just out of range.
O Palmeiras shoots in looking for a takedown. Andrey tries to sprawl out of it but O Palmeiras keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Andrey manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Andrey dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on O Palmeiras. That did some damage!
O Palmeiras dives in and grabs Andrey's left leg, looking for a takedown. Andrey pushes down on O Palmeiras's head and hops out.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
O Palmeiras has Andrey pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Andrey manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Malutin Andrey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nunca Subestime O Palmeiras.
Andrey is defending well against a takedown attempt.
O Palmeiras has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
O Palmeiras drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Andrey gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Andrey's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Andrey scores with a head kick. O Palmeiras tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Andrey leaves O Palmeiras with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Andrey throws a nice outside leg kick.
Andrey tests O Palmeiras's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Andrey throws a head kick that misses.
Andrey lands a nice shot that snaps O Palmeiras's head back.
O Palmeiras is rocked!
O Palmeiras gets hit by the mother of all head kicks and drops to the canvas in a crumpled heap! Woooow, the Internet is going to be talking about this one for weeks!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Malutin Andrey!
In his post fight interview, Malutin Andrey started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
