Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Craig Pollard! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ollor Nothing! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nothing pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Nothing looks to land a left hand but Pollard moved out of range nicely. Nothing misses with the combination.
Nothing misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Pollard slips a jab from Nothing. Pollard scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Pollard works the jab nicely. Pollard fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Pollard tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Nothing throws a hook but Pollard avoids it easily. Nothing misses with a wild body shot. Pollard is looking to clinch but Nothing is avoiding it.
Pollard steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Nothing. Pollard feints and as Nothing raises his hands in defense, Pollard changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Pollard wants to control from the top but Nothing keeps moving. Pollard drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pollard jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Pollard looking to pass the guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pollard trying to control but Nothing is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nothing wants to stand and escape but Pollard is having none of it. Nothing is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Nothing looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Pollard prevents Nothing from getting back to his feet.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Nothing misses with a jab, cross combination.
Pollard feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Pollard is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Pollard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nothing swivels though and keeps the full guard. Nothing manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pollard manages to get himself to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nothing trying to control the position from guard on top but Pollard is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pollard looking to hit a scissor sweep but Nothing is one step ahead there. Pollard is working hard here to advance position. Nothing stands up from guard. Let's bang! Pollard connects with a jab. Nothing misses with a hook. Nothing lands a really nice looking cross but Pollard seems unphased.
It looks like Craig Pollard has been cut. Nothing clinches but Pollard breaks the clinch and Pollard moves into the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nothing escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nothing throws a hook to the side of Pollard's head but Pollard sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Nothing waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Pollard. Good shot there by Pollard. Pollard throws a right and a left that both miss. A low kick from Nothing misses and Pollard holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Nothing wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Pollard has him pressed against the cage. Nothing lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Pollard backwards. A nice glancing elbow lands by Pollard. Nothing blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Pollard looking to throw knees to the head but Nothing is blocking nicely.
Nothing breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Nothing misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Pollard uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Nothing. Nothing is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Pollard is looking to slow Nothing down with leg kicks. Ollor Nothing seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nothing tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Nothing pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Nothing looks to clinch and Pollard counters with a single leg into guard. Nothing didn't expect that. Pollard is breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nothing is trying to control the position but Pollard postures up. Nothing striking from the bottom.
Nothing looking for a sweep. Not yet Nothing, not yet. Nothing trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Nothing is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Pollard scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Pollard prevents Nothing from getting back to his feet. Nothing pulls Pollard in close to his closed guard and prevents Pollard from doing any damage or advancing position.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Nothing displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Pollard fails with an attempt to clinch.
Nothing uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Nothing throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A low kick from Nothing misses and Pollard counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Craig Pollard dominated that round. The cut man is working on Craig Pollard's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Pollard decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Nothing works his way to full guard. Good work. Pollard with a nice head shot there.
Nothing is rocked! Pollard advances position into side control! Nothing is still in real trouble! Can Pollard finish him? Nothing is looking to get back to his feet here but Pollard is keeping cool and he's managed to take Nothing's back. Pollard is cranking Nothing's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Nothing! He's tightened the choke and Nothing is tapping out!
