PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Harry Callahan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Flash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jeff Flash told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Harry Callahan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jeff Flash!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Jonathan Paton and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flash takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Flash fails with a takedown attempt.
Callahan throws a sloppy head kick and Flash moves out of range easily.
Flash moves away from the strike by Callahan.
Flash misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Flash fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Harry Callahan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeff Flash.
Callahan jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Flash throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Callahan's waist but Callahan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Flash off to one side.
Flash will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Callahan lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Flash has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Flash and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Flash is trying desperately to land a takedown but Callahan is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Flash.

Flash is looking for a kimura but Callahan is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Flash to get the leverage.
Callahan is looking to control Flash's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Callahan avoid being mounted?
Flash thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Callahan's head.
Flash wants to control but Callahan is keeping him busy.

Callahan kicks Flash off and gets back to his feet.
Callahan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Flash manages to avoid it.
Flash changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Callahan tries to avoid it but Flash manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Callahan to the ground. Callahan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Callahan bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Callahan scores with a kick to the midsection.
Flash moves out of range as Callahan strikes.

and Callahan counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Flash takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Flash shoots in but no luck this time.
Flash doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Flash takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Harry Callahan showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Callahan, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
