PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Ball (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rocco Stupka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ball comes into the arena with Hammer Smashed Face blaring out of the sound system. Stupka is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Red Army March. Joe Ball has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Rocco Stupka!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, William Gold and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stupka swinging wildly here.
Ball tries to close the distance and clinch but Stupka swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Stupka fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ball looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Stupka moves out of range as Ball throws a body kick.
Stupka throws a right hand that Ball ducks under and follows up with a left that Ball also avoids with ease.
Ball looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Stupka is fending him off so far but Ball persists. Nope, Stupka circles away and we're back to standing.
Stupka just misses with a punch to the body.
Stupka connects with a leg kick. Ball looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Stupka. Ball shrugs it off though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Stupka misses with a body shot.
Stupka with a nice cross.


It looks like Joe Ball has been cut.
Stupka scores with a crisp jab that stopped Ball in his tracks.
Ball misses with a wild body shot.
Ball throws a series of punches but Stupka avoids them all with ease.
Stupka thuds his right hand into Ball's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Stupka fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ball looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Ball is breathing heavily.
Ball drops his hands momentarily and Stupka takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.


Joe Ball's cut is getting worse.
Ball chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Stupka can pounce on him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stupka throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Stupka looks to throw the jab but Ball is out of range.
Ball walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Ball looks to score with a jab to the body but Stupka is just out of range.
Stupka avoids a punch combination nicely.
A punch combination from Stupka misses.
Stupka misses with a double jab.
Stupka misses with a low kick.
Ball tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Stupka manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Stupka misses with a hook
and Ball counters with a three punch combo that has Stupka backing up. Stupka nods at Ball to acknowledge the strikes.
Ball uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Stupka.
Ball looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Stupka is fending him off so far but Ball persists. Nope, Stupka circles away and we're back to standing.
Ball checks the leg kick.
Joe Ball seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ball looks for a takedown but Stupka sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Ball. That's going to take a lot out of him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Stupka throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Ball counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Both fighters circling a little - Stupka finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stupka missing with a left hand there. Ball was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Ball on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Stupka is looking to slow Ball down with leg kicks.
Ball takes one to the chin there.


Joe Ball's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Stupka explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Stupka scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Stupka looks to land a combination but Ball avoids it well.

Stupka feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Ball sprawling to the canvas! Ball rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Stupka finish him?!

Stupka lands a big right hand that sends Ball crashing to the mat! Stupka stays standing though and waves Ball back to his feet!


Ball is rocked!


Jeez, Joe Ball's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Joe Ball's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Rocco Stupka!
Rocco Stupka seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
