Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marshall Mathers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Freddy Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mathers comes to the cage accompanied by Cinderella Man. Alves has chosen Trik Turner - Friends and Family as his entrance music. Marshall Mathers has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marshall Mathers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
20 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Freddy Alves! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Matheus Silva and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alves missing with a left hand there. Mathers was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Some bone on bone action there as Alves checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Mathers will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Alves throws a leg kick but Mathers sees it coming and moves out of range. Mathers lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Marshall Mathers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Alves moves out of range of the body kick from Mathers.
Alves will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Alves throws a series of punches but Mathers moves out of range. Mathers buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Alves attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Alves has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Mathers. Alves takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Mathers throws a sloppy head kick and Alves moves out of range easily. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Mathers waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Alves.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Mathers. Alves shrugs it off though. Mathers tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Alves was well out of range. Poor timing from Mathers. Mathers fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Alves throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. A swing and a miss from Alves. Alves misses with a wild combination.

Alves chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Mathers can pounce on him.
Alves looks to land a combination but Mathers avoids it well. Mathers throws an overhand right that lands on Alves's shoulder, as Alves tries to avoid the shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mathers lands with a right hand. Mathers cracks the inside of Alves's front leg. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Mathers, right into the meat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mathers rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Alves moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Mathers moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. A head kick by Mathers misses and Alves counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mathers won't be happy with that. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Alves in side control lands a decent elbow. Alves is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Alves is looking to take a break and control but Mathers is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alves throws a strike aimed at the side of Mathers's head but Mathers avoids it well. Alves happy to just control the position for now. Mathers wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Freddy Alves wasn't active enough on the ground. Mathers scores with a nice strike. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. No joy there for Alves, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Mathers throws a leg kick which misses Alves's front leg but catches the back leg as Alves tries to avoid it. Alves looks to land a combination but Mathers avoids it well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marshall Mathers dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

He's got his arms around Mathers's waist but Mathers gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Alves off to one side. Mathers misses with a head kick.
Alves throws a right hand that Mathers ducks under and follows up with a left that Mathers also avoids with ease. Mathers throws a right and a left that both miss. Alves smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Mathers throws a nice looking combination but Alves bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Alves avoids the head kick by Mathers.

Mathers scores with a push kick. Mathers throws a series of punches but Alves avoids them all with ease. Mathers thows a body shot but no joy. Mathers is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. The fighters circling - Alves throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Alves stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Mathers. This has been an exciting period of action! Mathers throws a combination that misses and Alves counters with a left and a right that stings Mathers. Alves throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Marshall Mathers is winning the standup battle so far. Alves tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mathers paws at him with a jab and circles away. Mathers tries a low kick but Alves avoids it. Mathers tries a head kick but it misses.

Alves cracks Mathers with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Mathers misses with a two punch combination.
Mathers fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Alves has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Alves misses with a wild combination.
Mathers throws a hook to the side of Alves's head but Alves sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Alves blocks a jab. Mathers is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mathers takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Mathers is rocked! Alves throws a monster overhand right that drops Mathers! Alves follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!
