PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jack Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Doug Pitbull (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Reyes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Doug Pitbull!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pitbull closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Reyes quickly recovers to half guard.
Reyes wants to improve his position but Pitbull is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pitbull tries to pass to full mount but Reyes defends it.

Reyes looking for submissions off his back.

Pitbull is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Pitbull is taking a breather. Reyes says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Pitbull is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Reyes doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Pitbull.

Reyes actively working from the bottom here.

Pitbull tries to stand but can't do so whilst Reyes controls his leg.
Reyes throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Pitbull is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Reyes has managed to free his arm - good work.
Pitbull wants to lay and pray for a moment but Reyes keeps working.

Pitbull is controlling the pace.

Pitbull slips a nice elbow through Reyes's hands, connecting with Reyes's forehead.

Pitbull is keen to just control but Reyes is a slippery customer.
Reyes tries to roll over but Pitbull keeps him under control.
Pitbull keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Reyes wants to sweep but Pitbull has passed to side control!
Reyes is breathing heavily.
Reyes takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Reyes is looking to regain half guard here but Pitbull keeps moving and retains side control.
Pitbull in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Pitbull thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Pitbull stands up.

Reyes shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Reyes showed some decent athleticism there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pitbull is trying to control but can't.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pitbull is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Doug Pitbull dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Pitbull drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Reyes struggling a bit here.
Reyes is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Pitbull decides to stand up, so the ref orders Reyes to his feet.

Pitbull drives through and clinches with Reyes against the cage.
Reyes tries to pull guard but Pitbull forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Pitbull gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Pitbull passes into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pitbull perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Reyes gets back to full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Reyes is looking for a triangle but Pitbull pushes his legs off easily.

Reyes escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pitbull gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Pitbull decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Pitbull throws a sloppy head kick and Reyes moves out of range easily.
Reyes tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Pitbull manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Pitbull tries to clinch but Reyes moves out of range.
Reyes tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pitbull sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Reyes somewhat.

Pitbull is looking to clinch but Reyes is avoiding it.

Pitbull fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Reyes sprawls well initially but Pitbull persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Reyes trying to get back to full guard but Pitbull takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Reyes wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Pitbull controlling the position well here. Reyes rolled but Pitbull kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Reyes wants to control his opponent's hands but Pitbull gets his hands free.

Will Pitbull go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Reyes rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Reyes is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Pitbull pulls his head out easily.
Pitbull passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Reyes!
Reyes is desperately trying to improve his position but Pitbull has a good base and remains in mount.
Pitbull takes Reyes's back.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Doug Pitbull showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Pitbull misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Reyes fails with a takedown attempt.

Reyes dives in and scores a takedown into Pitbull's guard.
Reyes won't allow Pitbull to get back to his feet.
Pitbull tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Pitbull lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Reyes!
Reyes is trying desperately to improve position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Reyes in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Pitbull putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
The referee warns Reyes that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Reyes throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Pitbull is landing with some decent strikes but Reyes is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Pitbull takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Reyes is squirming around, avoiding Pitbull's attempts to control the action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pitbull avoids the attempt from Reyes to control.

Reyes sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Doug Pitbull was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Pitbull pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Pitbull moves into range and clinches up with Reyes.
Reyes is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Pitbull to keep the fight standing.
A head punch on the inside from Pitbull fails to land.

Pitbull breaks the clinch.
Reyes shoots for a double leg takedown but Pitbull sprawls well. He's pushed Reyes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Reyes. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pitbull shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Reyes's guard.

Reyes escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pitbull gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Pitbull gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Reyes takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Reyes shoots in for a takedown but Pitbull shows good takedown defense.

Pitbull fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Reyes sprawls well initially but Pitbull persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Reyes wants to control but Pitbull is keeping busy.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Reyes is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Pitbull pulls his head out easily.

Pitbull has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Pitbull with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Reyes tries to hold on but Pitbull pushes him away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jack Reyes has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Doug Pitbull is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Doug Pitbull comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Pitbull has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
