The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Teixeira shoots in for a takedown but Miguel shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Teixeira scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Miguel is looking to improve his position.
Teixeira is trying to control the action in half guard but Miguel is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Miguel is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Teixeira has escaped the position, nice work there.
Miguel tries to stand but Teixeira is controlling his head.

Miguel decides to stand up, so the ref orders Teixeira to his feet.
Teixeira wants to clinch up but Miguel keeps it at a distance.
Teixeira misses with an uppercut. Miguel saw that one coming.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Miguel's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Sam Miguel wasn't active enough on the ground.
Miguel moves in looking to clinch but Teixeira pushes him off.
Teixeira checks a low kick from Miguel.
Sam Miguel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Miguel tries to clinch but Teixeira moves out of range.
Teixeira attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Miguel is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Miguel closes the distance and clinches.
Teixeira avoiding damage as Miguel throws knees to the body.

Miguel is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Teixeira can't fight it off and eventually Miguel manages to take the fight to the floor. Teixeira looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Miguel content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Teixeira has locked up a guillotine! Teixeira's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Miguel is holding on here and Teixeira must be using up a lot of energy. Miguel has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Teixeira gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
