Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gregg Valentine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Bower (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Valentine comes to the cage accompanied by Downtown Swinga 96 by MOP. Bower has chosen When I'm With You as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
25 - 10 - 1, fighting out of New York, Gregg Valentine! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
25 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dave Bower! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Valentine is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Bower. Valentine misses with a body punch
and Bower counters with a straight right hand. Valentine tries to work over Bower's front leg with a kick but Bower checks it. Bower with a jab. Valentine dips to his left and cracks Bower with an uppercut! Valentine throws out a token jab with nothing on it. A looping hook to the body misses from Valentine. Bower does a little dance to reset his feet. Nice defenses there by Bower. Valentine on the wrong end of a nice hook. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Valentine throws a solid leg kick but Bower takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Valentine. Bower blocks a low kick nicely. Bower throws a big shot that misses. Bower bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Bower tries to score with some ground and pound. Valentine controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Valentine is trying to get back to half guard. Bower is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Bower fails to land a wild elbow strike.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Bower throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Bower is trying to get an arm triangle but Valentine is defending well. Bower in side control, throwing shots but Valentine defends.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bower working the ground and pound. Bower cracks Valentine with a big right hand but Valentine just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Valentine tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bower wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Valentine is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Bower tries to pass the half guard into mount. Valentine knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ground and pound from Bower. Valentine regains full guard. Nicely done. Bower trying to control but Valentine is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bower is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Bower preventing the sweep. Bower works over Valentine with some ground and pound from guard. Bower stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Valentine swivels though and keeps the full guard. Bower wants to control from the top but Valentine keeps moving. Valentine preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Bower has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Bower lands a couple of elbows.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bower throwing strikes from guard but Valentine blocks nicely. Bower throws a strike but Valentine rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Bower is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dave Bower dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Bower ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Valentine doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Bower manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Valentine on his heels. He'll look to pass Valentine's guard now, I'm sure. Bower tries to free his leg and advance position but Valentine is retaining full guard. Bower with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Bower works his way back into a safe position though. Bower throws a strike but Valentine rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Valentine throwing strikes from guard but Bower blocks nicely. Bower controls Valentine momentarily but Valentine frees himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bower bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Valentine's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Valentine preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Dave Bower has got the better of the ground game so far. Bower won't allow Valentine to sweep him here. Bower loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Valentine trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Bower postures up in Valentine's guard and throws a big left but Valentine blocks it. Bower with a flurry of punches that miss. Bower postures up and lands a big shot to Valentine's brow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bower tries to free his leg and advance position but Valentine is retaining full guard. Bower slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Bower wants to control but Valentine is keeping him busy. Bower might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Valentine kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Bower working the ground and pound but Valentine is defending the strikes. Valentine is looking to regain half guard here but Bower keeps moving and retains side control. Bower in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Dave Bower showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Gregg Valentine seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Valentine is looking to score with low kicks. Decent striking displayed by Bower there. Valentine is looking to chop away at Bower's legs. Bower uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Valentine.
Valentine throws a jab when Bower was well out of range. Valentine on the wrong end of a nice jab. Valentine tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Bower is able to avoid easily. Valentine displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Bower throws out the jab. Bower closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Valentine quickly recovers to half guard. Bower tries to pass the half guard into mount. Valentine knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Bower is looking to take a break and control but Valentine is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Bower not landing any meaningful shots this time. Valentine is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Bower thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Valentine's head. Bower thows a huge punch but Valentine dodges it nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bower wants to control but Valentine is keeping him busy. Bower landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Gregg Valentine has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Bower wants to lay and pray for a moment but Valentine keeps working. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nice strikes from Bower there. Valentine slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Valentine is on top in guard.
Valentine advances position into side control! Dave Bower is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
