Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Miles Brand (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karl Kunnas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brand comes to the cage accompanied by Headin Out - Redneck Souljers. Karl Kunnas has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Miles Brand's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Miles Brand!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Karl Kunnas!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Anni Minnemäki and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kunnas displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Brand throws out the jab.
Kunnas loads up on a big right hand but Brand slips the punch.
Brand slips under a jab.
Brand shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kunnas but Kunnas pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Nice defenses there by Brand.
Brand fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Kunnas rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Brand moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A telegraphed right hand from Kunnas misses the target.
Kunnas connects with a right hand. Brand shakes it off.
Brand avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kunnas thows a body shot but no joy.
Brand slips under a jab from Kunnas.
Kunnas ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Brand moves away.
Kunnas works the jab nicely.
Brand dives in and grabs Kunnas's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kunnas pushes down on Brand's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Miles Brand. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kunnas misses with a series of wild punches.
Kunnas throws a predictable looking body shot

and Brand counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kunnas's guard now.

Brand throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kunnas works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Brand accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Brand will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brand postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Brand stopping the sweep attempt from Kunnas.
Kunnas is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Karl Kunnas was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Brand takes one on the button.
Kunnas misses with a hook.
Brand fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Brand loads up on a big right hand but Kunnas slips the punch.
Brand shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
No luck for Brand with that takedown attempt.
Brand shoots for a double leg takedown but Kunnas sprawls well. He's pushed Brand's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Brand is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kunnas's half guard.
Brand is trying to control the action in half guard but Kunnas is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Kunnas is looking to control Brand's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kunnas avoid being mounted?

Brand is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Brand not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Brand connects with a nice short shot to Kunnas's temple.
Brand throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Brand missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Brand prevents Kunnas from improving his position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kunnas keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Brand looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Brand is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Brand has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kunnas tries to get to full guard but Brand has control of the leg.

Brand is trying to work for a kimura but Kunnas is defending well.
Brand thows a huge punch but Kunnas dodges it nicely.
Brand prevents Kunnas from improving his position.
Brand wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kunnas keeps working.
Kunnas keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Miles Brand dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Kunnas throws a hook to the side of Brand's head but Brand sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Kunnas scores with a nice strike.
Kunnas wants to land a leg kick but Brand is out of range.
Brand misses with a low kick.
Kunnas moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Kunnas throws an overhand right that lands on Brand's shoulder, as Brand tries to avoid the shot.

Brand drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Brand is working Kunnas over with some ground and pound from side control.
Kunnas is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Brand has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Brand scores with a couple of short elbows.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Brand postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Brand in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Brand lands an elbow.
The ground and pound from Brand seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Brand throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Kunnas taking punishment in the form of punches.
Brand throws a strike aimed at the side of Kunnas's head but Kunnas avoids it well.
Brand working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Brand tries for a kimura but Kunnas is defending well.
Brand scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Kunnas to see if he's OK.
Brand tries to score with some ground and pound. Kunnas controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Brand wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kunnas keeps working.
Miles Brand overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Brand is working Kunnas over with some ground and pound from side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kunnas can do anything to dispel that myth.
Brand landing strikes.

Brand has hold of Kunnas's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Kunnas seems comfortable defending it but Brand has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Kunnas is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Kunnas is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Brand couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Miles Brand!
