Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Benny Hill! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Oleg Boev! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Sergei Dronov and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A momentary lapse in concentration from Hill enables Boev to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hill manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Boev drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Boev jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Hill throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Boev stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hill swivels though and keeps the full guard. Boev drops back looking for a leg! Hill is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hill manages to kick Boev off! Boev jumps back into Hill's guard. Hill has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Boev can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Hill is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Boev is aware though and is defending well. Hill with a couple of shots from the bottom there - nothing Boev can't handle though.
Boev drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Boev jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Boev drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hill manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Boev has Hill in his guard. Hill with a nice head shot there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hill is in close to Boev's body, working some short punches and elbows. Hill postures up and lands a big shot to Boev's brow. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Boev pushes a forearm under Hill's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Hill is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
