Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mahashi Morimoto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John YJ! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Sosuke Kotani and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Morimoto wants to clinch. YJ looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Morimoto gets the takedown into side control. Morimoto working the ground and pound but YJ is defending the strikes. Morimoto creates some space and throws a big elbow, but YJ sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Morimoto misses with an attempted head punch from side control. YJ seems a little lost for a moment, as Morimoto dominates the positioning. Morimoto's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Morimoto decides to stand back up. Morimoto closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. YJ did well to prevent Morimoto getting side control. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. YJ keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Morimoto seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Morimoto wants to pass to mount but YJ is defending the position. Morimoto is controlling the pace.
We're going to have a standup here because Mahashi Morimoto wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Morimoto misses with a series of wild punches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Morimoto closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into YJ's guard. Morimoto drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Morimoto jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. YJ utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Morimoto slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. YJ is working an open guard so Morimoto takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Morimoto shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Morimoto showed some decent athleticism there. Morimoto really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Morimoto frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Morimoto has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. YJ defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Morimoto. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Morimoto wants to clinch up but YJ keeps it at a distance. Morimoto shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Morimoto showed some decent athleticism there. Morimoto missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Morimoto is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so YJ is just riding it out for now. Morimoto eventually gives up the hold. Morimoto is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
That's three minutes gone in the round. YJ is looking to escape. Morimoto decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Morimoto changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. YJ looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. YJ taking punishment in the form of punches.
Morimoto has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Morimoto tries to clinch up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Morimoto throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Morimoto looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for YJ! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. YJ is trying to escape the mount but Morimoto keeps good control and instead manages to take YJ's back.
Morimoto has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of YJ's body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mahashi Morimoto dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Morimoto throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. YJ was covering up waiting for the punch and Morimoto finishes the takedown easily into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Morimoto content to stall in guard here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Morimoto pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. YJ is keeping the position for now. YJ being controlled here, momentarily. YJ takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Mahashi Morimoto has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Morimoto shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. YJ is trying to defend but Morimoto finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Well, if Morimoto is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Morimoto in particular looking to stall.
And that's the end of the fight! Mahashi Morimoto showed his dominance in that final round. Well Morimoto has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
