Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cory Rice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stanislav Moninov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cory Rice has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cory Rice!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stanislav Moninov!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rice moves into range and throws a big uppercut. OH! Moninov goes down! Can Rice finish him!?

It looks like Stanislav Moninov has been cut.
Rice has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Moninov looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Rice drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Moninov dives on top into guard.

Rice working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Moninov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Moninov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Moninov seems to have recovered his senses.

Rice is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Moninov defends well.

Rice fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Rice misses with a double jab.
Rice cracks Moninov with a good jab.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Moninov has taken the fight to the clinch.

Rice's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Rice lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Rice fails with the takedown.
Rice scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Moninov is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Rice.

Rice connects with a crisp jab.


That has opened up Stanislav Moninov's cut even more.
Rice's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Rice duly obliges.
Rice scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Rice dives in and grabs Moninov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Moninov pushes down on Rice's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cory Rice. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rice fails to land with a series of punches.
Rice lands with an uppercut that bounces Moninov off the cage and back into range.
Rice lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Rice lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Moninov at a distance.
Rice scores with a three punch combo!
Rice leaves Moninov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Rice dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rice lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Rice scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Rice lands with a nice combination. Moninov backs away looking to recover.

Rice fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Moninov, pushing him back against the cage.
Moninov using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Rice has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Rice working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Moninov should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Rice lands a shot to the body.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Rice can't get the takedown.
Rice is working for takedown but Moninov is calmly controlling the position for now.

Rice pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Rice swings for the body but Moninov moves out of range.
Rice misses with a series of wild punches.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Moninov looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Rice passes into side control.

Rice tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rice has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Moninov wants to get back to his feet.
Moninov is breathing heavily.

Moninov stops Rice from passing to mount.

Rice thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Rice tries to advance to mount but Moninov denies him.

Rice has hold of Moninov's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Moninov tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Rice cranks the arm and Moninov screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Moninov, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Cory Rice!
