PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mirko Boban (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donnie Darko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boban comes to the cage accompanied by Ana Tijoux - 1977. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Darko thuds a left hand into Boban's body.
Darko misses with a wild combination.
Darko uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Boban.
A telegraphed right hand from Darko misses the target.
Darko throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A slow jab from Boban misses its intended target.

Darko gets tackled into the cage by Boban. Boban maintains the clinch.
Darko has had enough of the clinch but Boban keeps him there for the moment.
Darko scores with an uppercut up the middle.
A frustrated look appears on Darko's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Boban tries a knee to the head but Darko blocks it.

Darko wants to stand up but Boban has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Boban trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!

Darko gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Boban takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Darko misses with a looping right.
Boban misses the shot to the body.
Boban ducks under a wild hook from Darko.
Darko gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Darko lands a jab.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Darko keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Donnie Darko is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Darko throws a front kick aimed at Boban's knee but Boban avoids it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Donnie Darko will probably get the nod.

Darko shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Darko is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Darko manages to break the clinch.

Darko throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Darko misses with a hook. Boban ducked under it nicely.
Mirko Boban seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Darko scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Darko misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Darko rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Boban moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Boban fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Boban lands a slapping body shot.

Boban feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Darko is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Boban kicks Darko off and gets back to his feet.
Boban uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Darko.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nice straight punches there by Darko. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Darko.

Boban is looking to wear down Darko with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Darko motions for Boban to come forward. Darko throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Some bone on bone action there as Boban checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Boban drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Boban tries to close the distance and clinch but Darko swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Boban takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

and Darko cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Donnie Darko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Boban takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
The fight stays on the outside here - Boban looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Boban looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Donnie Darko comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
